Drivers are facing severe rush hour delays on the M25 and Dartford Crossing this morning following a crash that has led to the closure of two lanes.
The incident, first reported around 6:16am, is affecting the M25 clockwise carriageway, with traffic stretching from J31 for the A1306 at Lakeside and Purfleet back towards J29 for the A127 at Romford.
Two lanes remain closed, following multiple traffic holds earlier this morning, including a 20-minute total stop and intermittent brief stoppages.
Traffic Chaos Across Key Routes
Heavy congestion has now spilled onto nearby routes, with queues building along the A13 past Grays, reaching the Baker Street junction for Tilbury Docks. Google Maps indicates very slow traffic approaching the Dartford Crossing, compounding travel misery for commuters.
Emergency Services Responding
Essex Police, the East of England Ambulance Service Trust, and National Highways have been contacted for comment. It is not yet known how many vehicles were involved or whether there have been any injuries.
Public Advised to Avoid the Area
Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for travel or seek alternative routes, particularly if heading towards the Dartford Crossing during peak morning hours.
