Drivers are being warned of major disruption as a busy stretch of the M25 in Kent is set to close overnight on three separate weekends for essential resurfacing works.
National Highways has confirmed that the M25 anti-clockwise at Junction 2, near the Darenth Interchange, will be shut overnight between April and May. The first closure will take place this weekend, from 10pm on Saturday, April 26, until 7am on Sunday, April 27.
Further closures at the same location will occur from 10pm on Saturday, May 10, until 7am on Sunday, May 11, and again from 9pm on Saturday, May 17, until 9am on Sunday, May 18.
During the closures, drivers heading anti-clockwise will be diverted off the M25 at Junction 2, routed through the Darenth Interchange roundabout, and rejoin the motorway using the Junction 2 anti-clockwise entry slip road.
Travel Disruption Expected
The closures are part of “essential resurfacing” efforts to maintain the safety and reliability of the motorway, one of the UK’s busiest routes.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys. Delays are expected, particularly for traffic travelling towards Dartford and surrounding areas.
In addition to these closures, the QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing will also close overnight this Saturday. The bridge connecting Essex and Kent will be shut from 10pm until 5am on Sunday, April 27, for routine maintenance and safety inspections.
Full diversion routes for the Dartford Crossing closure have also been published to help drivers navigate the disruption.
National Highways has apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked motorists for their patience while the important works are carried out.
