M3 Eastbound Carriageway Closed Between J6 and J5 After Serious Collision

 

The M3 in Hampshire is currently closed eastbound between Junction 6 (near Basingstoke) and Junction 5 (near Hook) following a serious collision. The incident involved a car that left the carriageway and struck a tree.

Emergency services, including Hampshire Police and National Highways Traffic Officers, are on the scene managing the situation and directing traffic. Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes if possible.

Diversion Route

Road users are being directed to follow the Solid Diamond diversion symbol on road signs. The advised route is as follows:

  • Exit the M3 eastbound at Junction 6.
  • At the roundabout, take the first exit towards Basingstoke/Newbury.
  • At the Black Dam Roundabout, take the second exit onto the A30 eastbound towards Old Basing.
  • Continue along the A30 for approximately 4 miles, passing through Old Basing, until the junction with the A287 Hook Common.
  • Turn right onto the A287 and follow it to the M3 Junction 5 roundabout, taking the second exit to re-join the M3 eastbound towards London.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, re-route, or delay their journey if possible.
