Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to tackle significant flooding in Canonbury Street, Islington, after a 36-inch water main burst late on Sunday night.

The incident, which began at around 10:04pm, left floodwater up to 44cm deep affecting multiple streets, including Canonbury Street, Essex Road, Elmore Street, Halliford Street, and Ecclesbourne Road.

Approximately 30 residents were evacuated from their homes and taken to a rest centre as London Fire Brigade crews worked alongside Thames Water, Islington Council, and the Metropolitan Police to protect properties and ensure public safety.
