Detectives are continuing their investigations after a non-stop collision in Ashby resulted in the death of a man

Motorists in Essex are facing significant delays following a serious road traffic collision on the M25. The incident has led to the closure of the anti-clockwise carriageway between Junction 27 (M11) and Junction 26 (Waltham Abbey).

Essex Police are currently at the scene, and National Highways Traffic Officers are also present, assisting with traffic management and investigation. The nature of the collision and the number of vehicles involved have not yet been disclosed, but it is understood to be a serious incident.

As a result of the closure, a diversion has been put in place for anti-clockwise traffic. Motorists are being advised to follow the hollow square symbol for the diversion route. This involves exiting the M25 at Junction 27 onto the M11 southbound, continuing to Junction 4, then taking the A406 westbound for approximately 6 miles until reaching the junction with the A10. From there, drivers should take the A10 northbound to rejoin the M25 at Junction 25.

The impact of the collision and subsequent road closure is significant, with approximately 7 miles of congestion reported on the approach to the closure. Travel delays are estimated to be around 45 minutes above the usual journey times for this section of the motorway.

Motorists planning to travel through this area are advised to allow extra time for their journey, consider re-routing, or even delay their travel if possible. The authorities are working to clear the scene and reopen the carriageway as quickly and safely as possible, but the priority remains the investigation of the incident and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
