A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a brutal stabbing in New Addington, Croydon.
Emergency services rushed to Lodge Lane at 10.50pm on Sunday, February 2, where they found a man in his 40s in a critical condition after suffering severe stab wounds.
Victim Collapsed at a Bus Stop After Staggering From Address
According to police, the victim staggered from an address in Elmside before collapsing at a bus stop on Lodge Lane. Scotland Yard has confirmed that the injuries sustained are life-changing.
A large crime scene was established at the location, with forensic officers combing the area for evidence as investigators work to piece together the events leading to the attack.
Suspect Arrested Two Days After the Stabbing
On Tuesday, February 4, a 23-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for the force said:
“Police were called at about 10.50pm on Sunday, February 2, to reports of a man found injured in the road on Lodge Lane in Croydon.
“Emergency services attended. The man, who is believed to be aged in his 40s, was found to be suffering from stab injuries.
“He was taken to hospital, where his condition has been assessed as life-changing. A 23-year-old man was arrested on February 4 on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101, quoting CAD 7151/02Feb.”
Local Concerns Over Rising Violence
Residents in New Addington have voiced their concerns over escalating violent crime, with some saying their children are stepping over blood trails on their way to school.
“We feel unsafe in our own neighbourhood,” one resident told reporters. “This is happening too often.”
