A man has been arrested after a vehicle collided with a shop in Trowbridge last night. (17/1) Just after 10 p.m., emergency services were called to the incident on Stallard Street.
The takeaway restaurant sustained extensive damage after the vehicle, a Citroen C3, crashed through the front window. The vehicle suffered extensive damage.
When the officers arrived. The driver and passengers were said to have decamped and fled the scene in the direction of the railway station.
Extensive searches were conducted, and a man in his twenties from Bradford-on-Avon was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to alcohol or drugs, as well as possessing an offensive weapon.
He is being held in Melksham for further questioning.
