A man has been arrested after Police Dog Bracken located a large amount of suspected class A drugs in a vehicle.
Shortly after 12.30pm yesterday (31/10), Melksham officers stopped a vehicle in Whitley near Melksham following concerns it had been used in the supply of drugs in the local area.
Searches were conducted and thanks to PD Bracken, a large amount of suspected class A drugs were found concealed within the interior trim of the Vauxhall Astra.
A man in his 30s from London was arrested on suspicion of class A drugs and taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning. The man has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Dog handler PC Jon Harwood said: “This was excellent team work by officers involved and thanks to the excellent detection skills of police dog Bracken, we were able to swiftly located suspected drugs which had been concealed which will now be sent off for analysis, and make a quick arrest.
“Day in, day out, our dog handlers are out and about in the communities assisting officers with specialist skills and this is a great example of the work we are trained to do.”
