Woman dies in fatal A3 collision near Esher

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a one vehicle fatal collision on the A3 near Esher Common in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday March 22nd) At around 1:20am a silver Peugeot travelling northbound was in collision with the central reservation and overturned. The passenger of the vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting but sadly died of her injuries. The male driver of the vehicle, who is also in his 20s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey for treatment. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time. The A3 northbound carriageway was closed whilst police, fire and ambulance services attended the incident and was re-opened at 7:15am. Officers are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision or seen the vehicle prior to it, to contact the Surrey Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01483 639922, quoting reference number P17067163.
