Man Safely Arrested After Rooftop Standoff on Broomdashers Road

A 24-year-old man has been safely arrested after climbing onto a window ledge during a rooftop incident on Broomdashers Road in Crawley.

The situation unfolded on the morning of Tuesday, 20 May, as Sussex Police were executing a warrant at a property. In an apparent attempt to evade arrest, the man climbed onto a ledge, prompting an emergency response.

To ensure public safety, officers swiftly implemented a road closure and safety cordon while specially trained negotiators engaged with the man.

Safe Resolution

Following a period of negotiation, the man was safely brought down and taken into custody without injury.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the incident was ongoing.”

Ongoing Enquiries

No injuries were reported during the standoff. Police have confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances of the warrant and subsequent rooftop incident.
