A section of Market Street in Manchester city centre was cordoned off tonight following a police incident near the Market Street tram stop. Police and paramedics were dispatched to the area, which led to significant disruption in the busy city centre.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing paramedics and police officers attending to a stationary tram at the stop. One end of Market Street, close to Piccadilly Gardens, remained sealed off, with no access for pedestrians.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment, but no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the incident. The cordon and police presence are expected to remain in place as the situation develops.
