Massive Delays on Surrey Motorway This Morning
All traffic on the M25 was thrown into gridlock near Leatherhead this morning after a crash near Junctionjunction 9 forced a complete halt. Drivers faced lengthy delays as queues stretched between junctions 8 and 9, with congestion backing up to Junctionjunction 7 and the M23.
Stop-Start Traffic and Long Queues
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported: “All traffic being temporarily held and long delays due to accident on M25 clockwise from J8 A217 Brighton Road (Reigate) to J9 A243 (Leatherhead). Congestion to J7 M23, and a mile of onlookers.”
Motorists were stuck in a mile-long tailback, with onlookers causing additional slow-wales/downs/”>downs.
Accident Details and Traffic Recovery
The crash happened shortly after 7am, causing lanes to shut and a full stop of traffic lasting about 20 minutes. The vehicles involved have now been removed, and traffic is easing steadily.
