Multi vehicle collision on Middle Road near Freshwater
Emergency services, including 4 fire engines, are attending a serious road traffic collision involving on Middle Road this evening (Monday). Police have closed the main Newport to Freshwater Road in both directions as ambulance and fire & rescue colleagues work to free and treat those involved.
It is understood at least 2 vehicles have collided head on with each near to the Brook Road crossroads on the junction with the B3401 and the B3399. Update:5.45pm One person has been taken away by ambulance on blue lights who is understood to be in serious they are the driver of the white Yaris. The casualty was stablished at the scene by Paramedics placed on a spinal board and taken to St Mary’s hospitals in Newport. The collision is involving a Blue Honda and A white Yaris. Fire crews have used cutting equipment to remove the roof of the Yaris to remove the driver of the Yaris who was removed and left in the care of the Isle of Wight ambulance service. Three other people have been treated at the scene by Paramedics. Officers at the scene have said that the road is likely to be closed for the next few hours to carry out Collision scene investigation work.
