Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead at a property in Blyth, Northumberland.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said:
“Shortly before 8.50pm on Thursday, May 1, we received a report from the ambulance service of concern for the welfare of a woman at an address on Second Avenue, in Blyth.

“Emergency services attended but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are currently being supported by specially trained officers.”
“An investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained. A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and remains in police custody.

Police have said that inquiries are ongoing and that a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course to help determine the exact cause of death.
