A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being struck by a car in Sandown this evening, prompting a significant emergency response and widespread road closures on New Year’s Eve.
The incident occurred just before 5:35 PM at the roundabout junction of Avenue Road and High Street. According to eyewitnesses, the pedestrian, who appeared to be intoxicated, positioned himself in the middle of the road before being hit by a Nissan traveling from the Esplanade direction.
