Person Hit by Train Between Paddock Wood and Strood as Emergency Services Respond

Train services have been suspended this evening after a person was hit by a train between Paddock Wood and Strood, leading to widespread disruption across the Southeastern rail network.

The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday 7 August 2025, and all lines between the two stations were immediately closed while emergency services responded.

In a statement, train operator Southeastern confirmed the incident and expressed condolences:

“We have been advised that sadly a person has been hit by a train between Paddock Wood and Strood.
While the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.”

Disruption Across Kent Rail Services

Services through key stations such as Maidstone West, Tonbridge, and Higham are affected, with some trains terminating early or being diverted. Disruption is expected to last until at least 10:30pm, and passengers are being urged to check journey planners and allow extra time.

Alternative transport arrangements have not yet been confirmed.

Investigation Underway

British Transport Police have been contacted for further details. At this stage, the condition of the person involved has not been publicly disclosed, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
