Points Failure Causes Disruption at London Waterloo

Rail passengers are facing significant delays this morning due to a points failure affecting services at London Waterloo. The issue has caused some lines to be blocked, resulting in cancelled, delayed, or revised train schedules.

Current Situation

South Western Railway (SWR) initially estimated that disruption would end by 8:00 am, but this has now been extended to 9:00 am as engineers work to resolve the problem. Passengers have been advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check for updates before travelling.

Alternative Travel Arrangements

To help mitigate disruption, SWR tickets are being accepted on the following services:

  • London Underground via any reasonable route
  • Transport for London (TfL) bus services between central London and Feltham

Updates from South Western Railway

SWR’s official Twitter account has been providing regular updates. A statement read:

“At this time, we estimate that disruption to our services will end at 09:00. Investigations are ongoing, and this may change. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.”

Advice for Passengers

Passengers are urged to plan ahead, check live travel updates via the SWR website or app, and consider alternative routes if possible. With delays likely, commuters should anticipate extended journey times and remain patient as the issue is resolved.
