Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a tragic fatal collision on the M20 near Swanley early this morning. The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 AM on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, involving a dark blue Smart car and two other vehicles.
The Smart car, travelling in a coastbound direction near Junction 1 of the M20, was first involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Mokka on the same carriageway. The Smart car then collided with a BMW 5-Series estate on the slip road where the M25 joins the M20.
Patrols and emergency teams from the South East Coast Ambulance Service responded to the scene. Sadly, the driver of the Smart car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or observed any of the vehicles prior to the crash to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with motorists who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time.
