Police Investigate Possible Links Between Three Unexplained Deaths In Middlesbrough

Authorities are conducting an investigation into the potential connections between three unexplained deaths that occurred over a three-month period in the South Bank area of Middlesbrough. The police have not ruled out the possibility of links between these mysterious deaths, and inquiries are ongoing while detectives await the results of further tests to determine the causes.

The series of incidents began with the discovery of 41-year-old Kevin Conway’s lifeless body at an address on Ajax Way on Saturday, July 15. At that time, the circumstances surrounding Mr. Conway’s death remained unclear, prompting a thorough investigation.

More recently, on Monday, September 18, the body of a woman was found at a property on Ajax Way. She has since been identified as 35-year-old Stephanie Alderson. The following day, on Tuesday, September 19, officers responded to a report of a sudden death at a property on South Court in South Bank. The deceased woman has been identified as Kathleen Broomfield, aged 38.

All three deaths, including that of Kevin Conway, are being treated as unexplained. Detectives are diligently working to piece together any potential connections or common factors among the cases.

In a significant development, a 43-year-old woman, previously arrested in connection with Kevin Conway’s death, has been re-arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance. This arrest pertains not only to Mr. Conway’s death but also to the two recent deaths, including Stephanie Alderson’s.

Additionally, three other individuals, including two men aged 47 and a 39-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance in relation to the death of Kathleen Broomfield. All four individuals remain on bail as inquiries into these perplexing cases continue.

The families of the deceased individuals have expressed their grief and offered tributes. Claire, the sister of Kevin Conway, described him as a “much-loved son, father, brother, and friend” and spoke of the profound devastation caused by his unexpected passing. Glennis, the mother of Stephanie Alderson, remembered her daughter as a “much-loved daughter” who would be greatly missed. Paul, the brother of Kathleen Broomfield, emphasised that there are “no goodbyes” for their loved ones, who will remain forever in their hearts.
