Detectives investigating the assault of an 85-year-old man in Hammersmith have issued an image of a man they wish to identify and speak to in connection with the incident.
The assault took place on Tuesday, July 2, at approximately 1pm at Hammersmith bus station. The victim was attempting to board the 220 bus when he paused to allow women and children to board first, holding up other passengers behind him.
The suspect, apparently taking offence to the delay, verbally abused the pensioner before shoving him, causing him to fall. The elderly man was taken to the hospital, where it was discovered that he had suffered a broken hip.
Police are now appealing to the public for help in identifying the man captured in the image. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police by calling 101 or tweeting @MetCC, quoting reference 01/545400/24.
For those wishing to remain anonymous, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted at 0800 555 111 or via their website at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
The investigation is ongoing as officers work to identify the suspect responsible for this shocking attack.
