A serious collision involving a lorry and a car has closed the QE2 Bridge clockwise at the Dartford Crossing, causing severe traffic delays across Essex and Kent.

The crash occurred around 11:00am between Junction 31 (A1306 Lakeside / Purfleet) and Junction 1a (A206 Dartford).

Road Fully Blocked – Traffic at a Standstill

All lanes have been stopped, with traffic completely stationary on the M25 clockwise, leading to major congestion:

  • Back to J29 A127 (Romford)
  • A13 severely congested from Grays
  • Long delays through Thurrock and Purfleet in both directions

Emergency services are on scene. There is no official estimate on reopening times.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes where possible.

Traffic is already building on nearby diversion routes, including:

  • A13 westbound from Orsett to Rainham
  • A1306 from Lakeside Retail Park
  • Local roads through South Ockendon and Aveley

National Highways and Essex Police are advising:

  • Do not attempt to turn around on the M25
  • Monitor live traffic apps and local radio for updates
  • Allow extra travel time if travelling via Dartford Crossing
