Glebe Road Residents Evacuated as Major Grass Fire Rages Behind Albion Pub in Rainham

Default Heading H1

Residents living on Glebe Road in Rainham have been evacuated after a large grass fire broke out in the field behind the Albion Pub. The London Fire Brigade has urged nearby residents to keep windows and doors shut due to thick smoke drifting across the area.

The blaze has prompted a major emergency response, with eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters deployed to the scene. Control Officers began receiving 999 calls just after 4:23pm, and crews have been mobilised from Wennington, Hornchurch, Ilford, and surrounding fire stations.

A wildfire response vehicle is also being used as part of the operation. These specialist 4×4 units allow firefighters to access difficult terrain and are equipped with 475 litres of water, misting lances, blowers, and beaters, improving response to large-scale open ground fires.
