Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were deployed to tackle a serious blaze at a residential block in Institute Place, Hackney, this evening.

Traffic in the surrounding area remains heavily impacted as emergency services continue to manage the aftermath of the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and will be investigated by the Brigade’s Fire Investigation Team.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said:
“Thanks to the rapid response of our crews, the fire was swiftly brought under control. We’re now working to determine how the fire started and ensure the building is safe.”
