Six fire crews tackle house ablaze in Gants Hill

The A123 Cranbrook Road (Gants Hill) is closed in both directions east of Gants Hill roundabout after a blaze rips through a property this afternoon. Fire crews from London Fire Brigade were called just after three on Wednesday afternoon. Six appliances have been set to the property that is understood to be a flat about a shop that is well alight. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown and under investigation. A spokesman for the LFB said :Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a flat fire above a shop on Cranbrook Road, Ilford. Half of the first floor and roof were damaged, firefighters used an aerial ladder platform and a drone to tackle the blaze. The Brigade was called at 3.44pm and the fire was under control at 7.02pm. Fire crews from Hainault, Ilford, Woodford, Stratford and Dagenham attended the scene. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
