Police have launched an urgent investigation after a white Audi RS3 was brazenly stolen in broad daylight from outside Carpet Giant in Orpington earlier this afternoon.

The vehicle, registration MK73 FHY, is believed to have been taken shortly after 2pm, with the entire incident unfolding in less than 15 minutes. A CCTV still shared by the victim shows a male suspect walking near the scene at the time of the theft.

The luxury car belonged to a man named Ashley, who said it was taken while parked in front of the retail premises. Speaking to local community groups, he said: “This happened so fast. If anyone sees the car or recognises the person in the CCTV image, please get in touch. Every second counts.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Information

The suspect appears to be a white male, wearing a dark jacket, black trousers, white trainers, and carrying a crossbody satchel. The CCTV timestamp shows him in the area just minutes before the theft is believed to have occurred.

Local authorities have been informed and are reviewing footage from surrounding premises in a bid to track the vehicle’s movements post-theft.

Residents in Orpington and surrounding areas are urged to check dashcams, CCTV, and doorbell footage between 2pm and 2:30pm on Sunday 20 July. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting the vehicle registration MK73 FHY, or to share details anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The public is also encouraged to share the image of the suspect to increase the chances of identification.
