A woman has tragically died after being struck by a car that collided with a building on Eastern Avenue, Ilford, on Saturday afternoon (7 December 2024).
Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, medics from the London Air Ambulance, and crews from the London Fire Brigade, attended the scene at around 4:10 p.m.

Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m.
Investigation Underway
The victim, whose age has not yet been confirmed,its understoodto have been out christmas shopping and on her way tom to family when the incident happened. Her next of kin have been informed by Police. They are now being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and has been spoken to by police. They have not been arrested.

Road Closures and Appeal for Information

A number of roads in the area remain closed as police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, providing the reference 4459/07DEC,” a Met spokesperson said.

“At around 16.10hrs on Saturday, 7 December police were called to reports of a car being involved in a collision with a pedestrian and a building in Eastern Avenue Ilford.
“Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics, medics from the London Air Ambulance and the London Fire Brigade.
“The pedestrian, a woman whose age has not yet been confirmed, was treated at the scene but despite the best efforts of the emergency services she was pronounced dead shortly after 17:00hrs.
“Her next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.
“The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been spoken to. They have not been arrested.
“A number of roads remain closed as officers carry out their investigation.
