A 32-year-old man has tragically died following a serious collision on the A267 at Cross in Hand early Tuesday morning (1 October). The incident, which involved a sewage tanker travelling northbound and a black Ford Focus heading southbound, occurred near the junction with Mayfield Flat around 7am.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, the driver of the Ford Focus, a man from east London, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, and specialist officers are providing them with support.
Sussex Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses or those with dash cam footage to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact police by emailing [email protected], quoting Operation Hales.
In particular, officers are keen to hear from any motorists who drove past the scene but did not stop and may have captured the incident on dash cam or mobile footage.
