A quick-thinking ASDA supermarket worker has been hailed as a hero after saving the life of a three-year-old girl who began choking on a lollipop while shopping with her mother.

Sharon, a checkouts colleague and first-aider at the ASDA Tiptree store, sprang into action when the girl’s mother began to panic. Using her first-aid training, Sharon instructed the mother to deliver a series of sharp pats between the girl’s shoulder blades. After a few attempts, the young girl managed to cough up half of the lollipop, averting a potential tragedy.

Brett added, “Sharon is an angel and the most amazing person.”

The incident, which could have had a much more serious outcome, was over in seconds thanks to Sharon’s intervention. Her calm demeanour and swift actions left both the girl’s mother and the entire store in awe, with many now praising Sharon for her life-saving efforts.
