Two Jailed after they attacked a victim with a knife and a chair leg

Two men have been jailed after they attacked a victim with a knife and a chair leg in Snodland. Barry Bonner (left photograph) and Paul Dudley (right photograph) were sentenced after they pleaded guilty to attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm. On 19 January 2018, 41-year-old Bonner and 33-year-old Dudley travelled to Snodland where they went to a private address and knocked on the front door. A teenage boy opened the door and, on entering the premises, Bonner took a large knife from the kitchen and threatened to stab him and his dog. When the householder, who knew the two men, returned home a short while later, he tried to reason with them. However, they attacked him, punching his face several times and attempting to stab him with the knife. They then struck him with a chair leg several times until it broke. The victim defended himself and managed to force Bonner and Dudley out of his address before calling the police. He had suffered facial cuts and bruises during the attack. Officers attended the scene and tracked down the two offenders at Snodland railway station. They were both arrested and later charged. At Maidstone Crown Court on 19 July, Bonner of Square Hill Road, Maidstone and Dudley of Tithe Mews, Harrietsham were sentenced to eight years in prison. Detective Sergeant Tom Daveney said: ‘This vicious attack is believed to have resulted from a previous disagreement. ‘The victim tried to calm the situation down but his attackers were intent on causing him harm. ‘His injuries could have been much worse and I would like to commend him for assisting us to bring these offenders to justice.’
