Wiltshire Police are appealing for information after a number of dead ducks were found in woodland near Station Road, Calne, on January 3, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m. The birds were discovered by a member of the public near the skatepark in Castlefields Park.

Disturbing Details

The Wiltshire Rural Crime Team has launched an investigation after discovering that the breasts of the birds had been removed. An X-ray examination revealed that the ducks had been shot with an unidentified weapon.

It remains unclear whether the ducks were killed locally or transported to the area and abandoned.

Police Statement

PCSO Mark Cook of the Calne Neighbourhood Policing Team commented:
“We are greatly concerned about this incident. The circumstances suggest deliberate harm to the ducks, which is troubling to the community and to us as investigators.”
