A fatal hit and run occurred this evening (Thursday, October 24) in Sheffield, leaving a man in his 40s dead. Police are appealing for witnesses and information to help identify those responsible.
At approximately 8:32 pm, officers were called to Gleadless Road following collision reports. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, who despite efforts from medical professionals, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe a dark-coloured Volkswagen was involved in the incident and are working urgently to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision. They urge anyone who may have witnessed the event, has footage, or observed suspicious vehicles in the area at the time to come forward.
Police are also requesting the public’s assistance in reporting any sightings of damaged vehicles in the vicinity. Community support is crucial as officers continue their investigation.
Road closures remain in place on Gleadless Road and Ridgeway Road, with tram services currently suspended. The public is advised to avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work.
