A woman has died after being struck by a car in North West London this afternoon in an incident now under police investigation as a suspected hit-and-run following a failed stop.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 3:10pm at the junction of Booth Road and Falcon Way, NW9. According to the Metropolitan Police, the car involved had driven away from a police vehicle shortly before it struck the pedestrian.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, including police officers who began providing immediate medical care to the woman before paramedics arrived. Despite the efforts of the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, the woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said:
“We were called at 3.08pm today (25 March) to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.
We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop. The car was later found abandoned nearby, and police are actively working to trace the occupants. No arrests have been made at this time.
A police cordon remains in place around the scene, with road closures continuing into the evening as forensic officers carry out investigations.
