Zoe Ball has announced she will step down as the presenter of BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show this December after six years at the helm.
“She’s done an incredible job on this show over the past six years, and I am beyond excited to be handed the baton.”
During the announcement, Ball reflected on her time as host, describing her six-year tenure as a “wild ride” full of “laughter, good times, and tough moments.” She also expressed gratitude to her listeners and colleagues, whom she described as “like family.”

However, she admitted one thing she won’t miss is the early starts:
“I won’t miss the 4am alarm call, if I’m completely honest. You know I love you all to bits.”
Fans have taken to social media to express their gratitude and support for Ball, praising her warmth and energy on the breakfast slot. Meanwhile, excitement is building for Mills’ new role, with many lauding his humour and longstanding rapport with listeners.
While Ball will leave the breakfast slot, her future role at Radio 2 remains under wraps. The BBC has promised further updates about her next chapter early in 2025.
Zoe Ball became the first female host of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show when she succeeded Chris Evans in January 2019. Her tenure has been marked by record listener numbers and her heartfelt connection with her audience.
