Mohammad Malik was found guilty of two counts of disseminating terrorist publications and two counts of expressing support for a banned organisation. However, he was cleared of possessing terrorist materials and another charge of dissemination after a four-week trial.

Police Seize Weapons and Homemade Daesh Flag

Malik had denied all charges but came under scrutiny from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) following reports he shared videos from various Islamist groups. A raid on 14 January 2025 uncovered his phone, computer, hard drives, swords, knives, and a homemade Daesh flag.

Detective Chief Superintendent Sounds Warning

“Malik shared a number of extremely graphic videos online, including some content produced by the media wing of Daesh,” said Det Ch Supt Claire Finlay, head of CTPSE.

“The videos, some of which he edited himself, glorified the actions of proscribed terrorist groups and terrorist attacks. Some content was antisemitic, featuring chilling footage of executions and beheadings. His actions could have encouraged or assisted others to engage in terrorism.”

Sentencing for Malik will be announced at a later date.
