The A259 in East 1 has been closed in both directions this evening following a police-led incident between the A2070 at Brenzett and the A268 at Rye.
Sussex Police are leading the response and say they are working to reopen the road as soon as possible. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and expect delays.
Diversions in Place
- Westbound traffic is being diverted via the solid triangle symbol: from Brenzett via the A259 towards New Romney, then onto the B2075 through Lydd, Jury’s Gap Road, and Camber, before rejoining the A259 at East Guldeford.
- Eastbound traffic should follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol, which reverses the westbound route.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, or consider alternative routes.
