Preston Davey’s Tragic End
The heartbreaking case of 13-month-old Preston Davey is set to rock Preston Crown Court this April. Jamie Varley, 36, and John McGowan-Fazakerley, 31, the couple who adopted Preston, stand accused of horrendous abuse that led to the baby’s death in July 2023.
Gruesome Charges Laid Bare
- Varley faces murder and manslaughter charges.
- He is also charged with assault by penetration, grievous bodily harm, and child cruelty.
- Multiple counts involve creating, possessing, and distributing indecent images of a child.
- Additionally, Varley allegedly possessed extreme pornography dating back to 2017.
- McGowan-Fazakerley faces charges of child cruelty and allowing the death of a child.
- Both men deny all allegations, including the sexual assault of Preston.
Dark Details Emerge
The abuse reportedly took place within just three months of Preston being placed in their care. Emergency services were alerted on 27 July 2023, when Preston was brought to Blackpool Victoria Hospital unresponsive. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Defendants Remain in Custody
Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley, both from Grimsargh near Preston, have been in custody since a pre-trial hearing earlier this year. The trial is scheduled to begin imminently, with the nation awaiting answers in this tragic and disturbing case.
