Who really makes the best caterpillar cake in the UK? A massive blind taste test by WHICH? has put this classic chocolate treat under the microscope – and the winner may surprise you. 
Blind Taste Test Takes the Cake
A panel of 75 consumers sampled slices from top supermarket caterpillar cakes, judging each on flavour, texture, appearance, and chocolate coating. Each cake was tested multiple times to ensure fair, reliable results. 
All followed the classic formula: a rolled chocolate sponge filled with chocolate buttercream and wrapped in a solid chocolate shell. But not all nailed the iconic treat’s magic.
