The body of 18-year-old Declan Berry has been tragically recovered from the River Nene, two weeks after a fatal car crash claimed the lives of two teenagers near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.

Horror Crash Claims Two Lives

Declan was one of five teens in a blue VW Polo that veered off the road at Crab Marsh around 8pm on Tuesday, March 17, plunging into the river.

While 16-year-old Eden Bunn’s body was found the next day, Declan’s whereabouts remained unknown until today.

Emergency teams, including police divers, paramedics, and fire crews, have been tirelessly searching the riverbed amid challenging conditions.

Survivors Escape With Injuries

  • Two 16-year-old girls and an 18-year-old male passenger survived the crash.
  • All were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn with non-life-threatening injuries.

Families Mourn Devastating Loss

“Eden was the kindest, most loving girl we could ever wish for. Her horses – Daisy and Dolly – were her world, and she was ours. Words cannot describe the tragedy that will stay with us until we are able to meet her again.” – Eden’s family

“We are absolutely devastated beyond words and ask for privacy during this tragic time.” – Declan’s family and friends

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Craig Wheeler said: “Declan’s family have been notified, and I ask that their privacy is respected during this horrendous time.”

“Our investigation into this tragic collision continues. We urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.”

Cambridgeshire Police ask witnesses to reference incident 515 of March 17 and report details via their website.
