Detectives Appeal for Witnesses After Fatal Shooting in Croydon
Detectives are appealing for information following the fatal shooting of a man in Croydon last week.
Police were called to Imperial Way, Croydon shortly before 5:05pm on Thursday, 19 June, after reports of gunfire. Emergency services arrived to find 41-year-old Anthony Morrison suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Anthony was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Murder Investigation Launched
A murder investigation was immediately opened by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command. The victim’s next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Detectives arrested a 41-year-old man on Sunday, 22 June, on suspicion of murder. He has since been charged in connection with the incident. A 37-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
“This charge represents progress, but we need the public’s help to uncover the full picture. While this incident is deeply tragic, it’s important to note that firearm-enabled murders remain rare in London.
“Our teams continue to engage with local communities and offer support. Anyone with information should come forward to help bring justice for Anthony and his loved ones.”
