The rugby community is mourning the loss of former Bristol and Bath back row player, Nick Koster, who tragically passed away at the age of 34. The South African athlete joined Bath from Western Province in 2012 and later moved to Bristol for the following season.
During his tenure with Bath, Koster made 11 appearances, showcasing his skills as a flanker and number eight. He then went on to play 62 games for Bristol over five seasons. Koster retired from professional rugby in 2018 after representing Cambridge University.
The cause of Koster’s untimely death has not been disclosed, leaving the rugby world in shock and sorrow. In a statement, Bristol expressed their condolences and shared their support for Koster’s wife Jeannie and their two young children. The club acknowledged Koster’s significant impact both on and off the field, highlighting his contributions as a player and as part of the Bristol community.
Bath Rugby also released a statement expressing their heartfelt sympathies to Koster’s family, friends, and former teammates. They emphasised that Koster would be deeply missed and forever remain a cherished member of the Bath rugby family.
