The Pentagon has confirmed that four US Army Reserve soldiers died following an Iranian drone attack on a US command centre in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, on March 1, 2026. The strike marks a serious escalation in the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
Deadly Drone Strike Shakes the Region
The drone strike targeted a critical US military command centre surrounded by concrete barriers, typical for overseas bases but no match for drones or missiles. Officials had previously debated whether concentrating so many personnel in that vulnerable location was wise.
All four soldiers belonged to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa. The attack came just a day after coordinated US and Israeli strikes against Iran, which promptly retaliated with missile and drone attacks across the Gulf.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the strike hit a fortified tactical operations centre, with just one projectile reportedly breaching air defences. The incident remains under investigation amid fears of more Iranian aggression.
Tributes Pour in for Fallen Soldiers
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Dan Caine hailed the fallen as “the best our nation has to offer” and “true examples of selfless service.” He offered “deepest condolences” to the families and comrades, saying, “We will never forget you.”
Friends and family have shared heartfelt memories. A close friend of Capt. Khork said he was “always there” through life’s toughest and best moments, calling him a loyal friend who “never complained” despite hardships. “He went out doing what he loved – defending our freedom. Rest easy, brother.”
An acquaintance of Sgt. Amor described her as “a special person, a hell of a troop and an amazing mom.” Amor had served with distinction since 2005, earning multiple military awards and previously deployed to Kuwait and Iraq.
In Minnesota, locals have launched a meal train for her grieving family. Nebraska’s Governor Jim Pillen ordered flags at half-staff to honour Sgt. Tietjens, recognising his sacrifice and urging prayers for all US troops in harm’s way.
Trump Vows Revenge: ‘We Will Avenge Their Deaths’
President Donald Trump, speaking from Mar-a-Lago, pledged to “avenge” the fallen soldiers. He warned the conflict may claim more lives as the mission continues, promising to deliver “the most punishing blow” to Iran and its terrorist proxies.
“These brave men and women were true American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Their mission was righteous, and their memory will inspire us all,” Trump said.
The deadly attack in Kuwait underscores the volatile situation in the Gulf following months of rising US-Iran tensions and fresh military escalations. Authorities remain on high alert as investigations continue.
