Six fire engines rushed to tackle a massive fire tearing through a mill in Middleton early Sunday morning. Thick smoke and towering flames lit up the sky, sending shockwaves across the town.

Firefighters Battle Intense Flames

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called just after 5:48am to reports of a blaze at a commercial building on Townley Street. Using turntable ladders, hydraulic platforms, and multiple ground monitors, crews fought the fire relentlessly for nearly three hours.

A fire service spokesperson warned: “Residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed and to avoid the area.”

Police and Emergency Services on High Alert

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident is at Lodge Mill near Old Hall Street. They urged locals: “Please avoid the area as road closures are in place and will remain until it is safe to reopen.”
