More than 1,000 orders used to tackle troublemakers
Kent Police have ramped up action against antisocial behaviour, using powers over 1,000 times in the last 12 months. From shutting down drug dens to breaking up illegal car meets, officers are taking no prisoners.
Serious measures hit repeat offenders and noisy gangs
- 27 Criminal Behaviour Orders slapped on persistent offenders, including Robert McCann, 51, banned from Maidstone town centre after 13 breaches linked to alcohol-related trouble.
- 13 property closure orders shut down hotspots connected to drug abuse, violent incidents, and noise nuisance – three in a single week in Gravesend and Medway alone.
- 227 dispersal zones set up to break up nuisance gatherings, forcing 261 people to leave trouble spots.
- 430 Community Protection Warnings issued, with a further 132 upgraded to Community Protection Notices – ignore these at your peril, as arrests loom for repeat breaches.
Officers seize illegal bikes, e-scooters, and dangerous catapults
Kent’s law enforcers also swooped on illegal motorcycles and e-scooters, ripping catapults from those suspected of vandalising property and harming wildlife.
Police vow zero tolerance on town centre disorder
Superintendent Rob Marsh said: “Antisocial behaviour ruins our communities – from late-night car revving to catapult attacks on animals and property. We don’t tolerate it. “Our officers patrol every day to enforce the law and stop trouble before it starts. These orders are powerful tools to keep Kent safe and hold offenders to account.”
