A man in his 30s has died following a violent altercation outside a Home Bargains store in
Blackburn. Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder.
Victim Collapses After Altercation
The incident unfolded on Byrom Street at around 6.45pm on Friday. The victim suffered serious head injuries during a fight involving two other men. He collapsed shortly after and was rushed to the hospital, where he sadly died the next day despite medical efforts.
A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death was a head injury.
Two Men Held as Police Launch Murder Probe
Police arrested two men aged 43 and 44 on Tuesday. Both remain in custody for questioning as detectives continue their investigation.
Detective Inspector Pete Macdonald of the Force Major Investigation Team said:
“My thoughts are with this man’s loved ones at this incredibly distressing time. Our investigation is very much in its early stages, but we have a dedicated team carrying out enquiries to piece together what happened.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Officers are urging anyone who was near Home Bargains between 4pm and 9.30pm on Friday, March 27, to come forward. They especially want to hear from anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident.
