A violent attack at a South London chicken shop on Christmas Eve ended with the attacker behind bars for three years. Marwan Khadir, just 18, unleashed terror using a fake gun while threatening to kill a staff member over a dodgy order.

Armed Assault Shocks Penge Chicken Shop

On 24 December 2025, Khadir stormed into the chicken shop in Penge armed with a realistic imitation firearm. The rampage lasted over two minutes, during which he threatened to shoot the worker and punched him multiple times. The victim bravely reported the assault the very next day, Christmas Day.

Relentless Police Hunt Nets Arrest

The Met swung into action fast. Cops used intense CCTV, financial tracking, and local resident enquiries to identify Khadir between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Phone investigations and firearms officers helped secure an arrest warrant. Khadir was caught on 2 January, with police seizing the replica gun and fake ammo.

Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery

Detective Sergeant Amy Cross said: “The tireless work by officers over Christmas and New Year proves policing never stops. Our efforts led to a conviction. The victim showed remarkable strength and courage in facing this nightmare at work, coming forward and identifying Khadir was essential to the case.”

Guilty Plea Secures Justice

At Woolwich Crown Court on 30 January, Khadir pleaded guilty to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, making threats to kill, and assaulting the victim, causing Actual Bodily Harm (ABH). Three years behind bars now await the attacker who turned a festive night into horror.
