Where’s Alanis Morissette when you desperately need her? Hayden Geraghty, the general manager of trendy booze-free bar Sobr, has been busted for driving well over the limit in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Four Times the Limit and a Crashed Car

Geraghty was found slumped at the wheel of his Volkswagen Golf after crashing into a structure near the Holburn Bar. Police breathalysed him at Kittybrewster Station, clocking a staggering 99 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath — that’s more than four times Scotland’s legal limit of 22mcg. He admitted the offence, saying he’d been out drinking with friends after work. The result? A 12-month driving ban and a £520 fine.

Alcohol-Free Bar Boss Keeps His Job – But Can He Bounce Back?

Sobr, Scotland’s first alcohol-free bar, opened its doors in October 2025. Despite the scandal, the owners are standing by Geraghty. They say they’ll support him through his recovery and that he’ll stay on as general manager.

“The matter of Hayden’s court case is very personal to him and he understands the amount of hurt and damage he has caused, both to himself and those closest to him,” said Sobr owner Kate Kenyon. “Since the incident, Hayden has been upfront, open and honest with us about what he has been going through, which we have greatly appreciated, and we have offered support when needed, from both a personal and professional standpoint. His situation further shows why somewhere like Sobr is so important.”

Call it a PR masterstroke or pure mumbo jumbo, but it’s clear Sobr isn’t ready to lose their head honcho over this.

Good Luck, Hayden

With a tough year ahead, here’s hoping Geraghty cleans up his act. No one’s perfect — even managers at alcohol-free bars.
