Murder investigation launched after man injured in June assault dies

A murder investigation has been launched after a man who was injured in an assault in the Isle of Dogs in June has died. Terrence Baker, 29, from Limehouse was assaulted in the early hours of 18 June 2017 at Plevna Street, E14. He was taken to hospital where he remained in a critical condition for five months. Mr Baker died on Sunday, 19 November; his next of kin have been informed. His death is now being investigated by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. The investigation is being led by Detective Inspector Robert Pack. A 32-year-old man was arrested on 18 June and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was due to appear for trial for GBH at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, 27 November. This will now be reviewed in light of the victim passing away. Anyone with information concerning this attack is asked to call police on 020 8345 3715 or via 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You can also tweet police @MetCC wo women aged 30 and 31 were also arrested at the scene of the incident for a separate assault matter arising out of the same incident. Both have since been charged with common assault on a 27-year-old woman. They have been bailed to appear on Friday, 9 February at Stratford Magistrates’ Court.
