Police have initiated a murder inquiry after the death of 35-year-old Michael Beaton, who was found with serious injuries on Drumfrochar Road around 7.20pm on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Despite being rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, Beaton succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Beaton was struck by a light-coloured vehicle and subsequently attacked with a bladed weapon in Drumfrochar Road. Detective Chief Inspector Lynsey Watters, leading the Major Investigations Team (West), emphasised that the incident does not appear to be a random attack.
Watters stated, “This was an extremely violent attack which has shocked the local community and caused disruption to their daily routines while we carry out our forensic enquiries. I’d like to assure the people living in the area that we are doing everything we can to trace the person or persons responsible for this shocking incident, and that there will be an increased police presence in the area.”
The detective urged anyone with information, those who witnessed the attack, or observed suspicious individuals or vehicles in the vicinity to contact the police immediately. Watters also requested people to review their dash-cam and ring doorbell footage for potential evidence.
