Police release image of man wanted over fraud

Police are releasing an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a fraud offence. On Saturday, 18 January an elderly couple reported to police that they had been contacted the day before, Friday 17 January, by a man claiming to be a police officer. The man told them there had been suspicious activity with one of their bank cards and they needed to help him with an investigation. The couple, both in their seventies, from Hillingdon, were instructed to withdraw £4,500 from a bank in Ruislip on the Friday to assist the investigation. They did this and a man came to their home and collected the money from them. The following day they were contacted again and asked to withdraw monies from a Travel Exchange in Uxbridge. After doing this a male came to the address to collect the money. They were also asked to purchase a gift card from a department store and, once they did, a male collected the gift card from the couple. After this the couple contacted a relative who advised them to contact the police. Detectives from Central Specialist Crime are investigating and are appealing for witnesses and information.
