A brazen shoplifter in Swindon has finally been slammed with jail time after repeatedly ignoring a court order banning her from local stores.
Tracey Manser’s Theft Spree Ends Behind Bars
Tracey Manser, 35, homeless and homeless, was sentenced to 44 weeks in prison at Swindon Magistrates Court on April 8. The sentence came after she was caught multiple times stealing and blatantly breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) imposed last December. The CBO specifically banned Manser from entering any Co-Operative store across Swindon. But she ignored the ban, sneaking into the Beechcroft Road store repeatedly, stealing a string of items, including laundry products and meat.
Police Crackdown After Repeated Offences
“Tracey Manser is a prolific shoplifter who has been given numerous opportunities to rein in her offending, which has badly hit businesses around Swindon town centre,” said Insp David Tippetts from Swindon Centre South Neighbourhood Team.
He added: “This jail sentence sends a strong message that shoplifting won’t be tolerated. The extra time for breaching the CBO shows just how serious these offences are.”
Shoplifting Hits Local Community Hard
“Shoplifting isn’t a victimless crime. It damages local businesses and the wider community,” Insp Tippetts continued. “We’re committed to working with retailers to stop this crime and bring offenders to justice.” For more information, contact Katie Bond.
